10 April 2025 Visit. Republic Poly Green House
10th April 2025. Envcares Eco Impact Network made a visit to Republic Polytechnic Green House which is served conveniently by the Thomson-East Coast Brown Line (TEL).
Apart from full time students, RP also opens its doors to part time students which includes mature learners – what a hub for learning.
RP is working on solutions for long term sustainability and food security and sustainability.
At the forefront is a 1,000m2 living lab, The Greenhouse. With a wide variety of plants at various stages of growth, we could see efforts to optimize yield. There was even an eco-system of fishes providing nutrients.
We had a good around at the open third floor The Lawn where there was an outdoor experiment using RPs own derived okara biostimulent with control and plants with bio stimulant sprayed on roots, leaves and both.
The Food Packaging Lab was most interesting with R & D into extending shelf lives and innovative ways of product development including powder spraying, even 3D printed food
Food Innovation Lab: Witnessed extrusion, 3D printing, and human taste-testing sessions—where science meets culinary creativity!
All very interesting. Many photos to tell the stories.
