NTUC Sustainability Team visits Envcares
27th May 2025: Very glad to have hosted visitors from NTUC Sustainability Team.
Both organizations have the common purpose of spreading the sustainability message. How more than to ‘educate’ by seeing how such activities can be impactful.
Erzwin Yem thanks for the video clip. Very catchy tune. I will certainly ‘learn’ TikTok! Throughly enjoyed the discussions with your colleagues.

🌱 A Transformative Visit to Envcares Pte Ltd: Turning Waste into Opportunity
The NTUC Public Service & Sustainability Team had the privilege of touring Envcares’ state-of-the-art facility in Tuas, Singapore, guided by Director of Sustainability & Business Development, Mr. Gin Keat Ong. Envcares is a trailblazer in sustainable waste management, processing over 300 tonnes of organic side streams daily.
The tour showcased their innovative operations:
* Food Waste to Compost: Expired bread and other organic waste are converted into nutrient-rich compost using an in-vessel aerobic thermophilic process, certified by the Singapore Environmental Council’s Green Label.
* Aluminium Can Recycling: Empty beverage cans are crushed, extracting liquids for composting, while the aluminium is sold to scrap merchants for recycling.
* Plastic Packaging Management:
Plastic packaging is efficiently sorted and processed, contributing to a circular economy and reducing landfill waste.
Envcares’ commitment to sustainability is evident in their 84% recycling rate, significantly surpassing the national average. Their efforts not only mitigate environmental impact but also create valuable resources for agriculture and industry.
Thank you, Mr. Ong, for the insightful tour and for leading such impactful initiatives. Envcares exemplifies how innovation and sustainability can drive meaningful change.
